RE: Camping in Sequoia/Three Rivers

Sequoia RV Ranch doesn't ring a bell, but Kaweah Park resort is nice. Right on the river, so if you have little ones watch them. Take Hwy 198 east off Hwy 99 about 35 miles.

RE: Questions about towing doubles

You really need to stay leagal for safety. I've pulled doubles through The western states (9,000+ miles see profile) and have never had the SP look at us twice, but if you do anything to catch their eye, unbalanced load, something flopping around, speeding ect. you will be checked. Travel safe for your family sake.
1. No backing. Maybe 10' to 15'
2. When I enter a camp ground I drop the utility trailer, setup and go back and get it.
3. I've had no problems, even going through parking lot as the 2nd trailer tracks close to the 1st.

RE: Generator hook-up

I believe in order to maintain a true 30 amp conection use the round 3 prong cord.

RE: best route from San Luis Obispo to Las Vegas

Hwy 46 route will add 50 miles to Bakersfield as apposed to Hwy 166 plus a ton of traffic....JMHO
Pismo to Paso to Bakersfield = 188 miles
Pismo to Hwy 166 to Bakersfield = 141 miles

RE: best route from San Luis Obispo to Las Vegas

You could drop south on 101 to Hwy 166, go over to the big B, then take Hwy 58 east and it will dump you into the 15 at Barstow. Hwy 166 is a 2 lane, but we pull our 34' 5er over it with no problems.

RE: SoCal to Denver Southern Route

All I can suggest is, with a popup, don't stay near a Hwy or a commercial stop over (casino or truck stops). The noise will make for a long night. Good luck and have a safe trip.

RE: If your hydrolic slide out fails...

The Challenger we had, you could use an eletric cordless drill and 1/4" hex head, insert into the end of the pump and run the hydralics.

RE: Best route from So. Cal to Sequoias?

Up there is about 6,500' to 8,000', so out in the open sun is hot, but in the shade it's a very pleasent nap for sure LOL. The nights are very nice and calls for a campfire. Your not that far from Hume Lake to spend some time fishing and swimming. Have fun.

You can boondock in the Big Meadows area between the parks, only requirement is fire permit if not in a marked campsite.

RE: Best route from So. Cal to Sequoias?

Hwy 198 is crooked as a snake trail, trust me. You can exit Hwy 198 east toward Visalia and take the 1st exit. This is Plaza Dr, turn right, back over Hwy 198 heading north. Follow this Rd 80 (Alta Ave) for approximately 10 miles+-, all flat land, it will deadend into American Ave. Turn right and go about 3 miles to Cove Ave, turn left go 4 miles+- it will deadend into Hwy 180, turn right and head up hill. Hwy 180 is a nice road well maintained. See my profile I come down it in second gear with minimal braking. Relax and have fun.

RE: Best route from So. Cal to Sequoias?

If it were me I'd go up Hwy 180 to Kings Canyon Nat. Pk see the sights there and take the Generals Hwy over to Sequoia Park 45 miles stay at Dorsest camp ground or Lodge Pole. Make sure to call for reservations. Other wise you can stay at Big Meadows dry camping (no water, waterup b-4 you go) in between the parks no fee. Then drop down Hwy 198 back home, makes a nice loop.

RE: Pine Grove Campground AZ- Flagstaff/Lake Mary Rd.

Don't about Pine Grove, but it can't be any worse than the pricy KOA. If it's the one I'm thinking of it looks good. Wife and I hit the general store there as it had antiques advertised.

I believe that it is six months, got my permit for CDL and schedule my tests for 3 weeks later. The only hard part was the pretrip walk around. Good luck.

RE: Commercially Available RV Alarm

Just put an every day car alarm on your rig, wire in a horn, it'll go off if the trailer is moved. Don't set it so light that a breeze sets it off as the neighbors will burn your trailer down.

RE: brake controller choice when towing double

I believe all brake controlers will handle anywhere from 4 to 6 axles, so you should be ok to tie into your tailer brakes like I did for my utility trailer, works great.

RE: Tire Blow-out - Damage Claim

I had a blow out years ago on a 92 Prowler we had. Caseing tore thru the wheel well and took out our pantry, 4' of floor plus had to replace the 1st 3 sections of outside wall. Cost was $4,500, we paid our $500 deductable. That was Farmers, no problem. Sounds as though your company just wants to collect and not pay. I'd dump them...........JMHO
